Posh Crochet Baby Booties Pattern

Posh Crochet Baby Booties

I’ve named this pattern Posh Crochet Baby Booties because a lovely lady named Chris from the Crochet Hooks You Facebook page gave me the idea. Thank you very much, Chris! :-)

This is a variation of another pattern of mine and this is a very quick pattern which has only 8 rounds. These would be ideal to crochet if you are in a hurry to make a gift for a baby shower or another occasion.

Amazon Review:

Well, this was the first pattern book I ever purchased and I’ve made plenty of cute little booties for my little girl and one pair for a friend.

I found the instructions easy to follow, and if there was a stitch I didn’t know there is a chart in the back which is very handy.

It would have been nice if it had color pages but at least you have a color picture on the front and back covers.

  6. Jessica Hawkins says:

I want you ask more about the yarn used for this pattern. I am still learning all the crocheting “lingo” and what it all means. When you say category 3 yarn does that refer to the little square on the packaging that has the number on it? I had a sweet friend in college and she is going to be having her first baby soon. Her mother-in-law passed away recently but before she did she kept saying she was seeing pink baby booties. I want to make these for them in pink and mail them to her in honor of her mother-in-laws passing. I never thought that what started as learning to make a blanket for my baby would turn into something that I hope to bless someone else with. Thank you so much for your free help with all this crocheting. You have really helped me through this process in so many ways!

    • Paula says:

      Hello Jessica,
Yes, you will see a number 3 in the little square box on the yarn label. I hope you enjoy making these booties, I’m sure they will be loved. :-)

      • Jessica Hawkins says:

Thanks for the help. I made them and a matching hat. Posted on facebook along with another set I made for my son. Thanks for the great videos! The sets are pink and the other is grey, I tried to put a link in but had difficulty.

        • Paula says:

          Hi Jessica,

  17. Caroline DERNE says:

    Dear Paula,
I am pregnant (of twins!) for about 4 months, and in my 3rd month, I was confined to bed for 2 weeks. That’s when I started my very first crochet (with a 0.5 mm crochet and a very thin yarn that I have kept for years with the hope that I will manage crochet one day XD) with this tutorial I found on YouTube, and I learned everything (even basic stitches and how to handle a hook) from it. It was so clear, well explain (moreover english is not my mothertongue I’m French) and pleasant , and it was so grateful to make these baby booties that I kept playing the tutorial all day long and kept continuing crochet with all your other babies crochet pattern (I assume my babies know already your voice ;-)). And you cannot imagine the confort it provided to my mind when I was confined to bed! Of course, I made mistakes in my first booties as I had difficulties to make the 2nd pair the same ( or the same size) and to understand where I made errors! Haha – now I’m getting better.
For all this, I want to thank you so much for sharing your passion, your pattern, and for this great website. Crochet hooks me!

  18. Barbara says:

    Paula,

I learned how to crochet from your vidios. You are the best teacher I have found– very patient , you go slowly and explain clearly.
I am a doll maker of the German waldorf dolls. They traditionally have crochet shoes and sweaters. My dolls have newborn or preemie size feet, and are 18″ dolls, I have not found a good doll sweater tutorial as yet– but would love to attemp it in a crochet pattern. Anyway , Thankyou for your wonderful contribution to the world of crochet!

    • Paula says:

Hello Barbara, thank you for your comments and its nice to know you have learned to crochet via my videos. How wonderful that you are a doll maker, very impressive! I haven’t designed a doll sweater as yet but I will have to give it a go. :-)

  19. Mihaela says:

    Hello Paula, I like your booties ! Also, I’ m a happy crocheteer !

    • Paula says:

Hello Mihaela, that’s really nice to hear. Thank you!

  20. Karthy says:

Hi Paula, in round 4,5,6 do you count chain 2 and 1hdc as one stitch?

    • Paula says:

Hi Karthy, You count each ch-2 as 1 hdc st. Therefore, you would start the round with a ch-2 and then work 35 hdc sts around which totals to 36 sts all up.

  21. Jsau says:

Thanks so much for the wonderful tutorial! This is my first project and I’ve tried other patterns but you make it so easy to understand the instructions :)))) I have enjoyed making these booties very much and I am glad I can learn in my own time in the comfort of my own home. From your example, I think reading crochet patterns will be easier to understand from now on.

    • Paula says:

Hello Jsau, I’m so glad you enjoyed making the Posh Baby Booties! And yes, it is nice to learn from the comfort of your own home. That’s great that you will find reading patterns easier now. Thank you so much for leaving your comment. :-)

  22. Crystal says:

This is exactly what I need for my baby girl’s little feet! What an excellent design and you’re such a great teacher :) thank you so much!

  23. Cinder says:

I have searched and searched and tried and tried numerous baby booties patterns and the only ones that have ever come out right are the ones you have video tutorials/patterns on!! Your way of explaining and showing how to make the booties is so simple, clear and easy to follow!! I have made the posh booties and added a crochet flower to the side and made a matching beanie (which I also learned how to make from your tutorial!)…thank you sooooo very much!!

  24. Gaythri says:

Hi, this is a wonderful tutorial ! I have a question. If I use a 4 ply baby yarn do the measurements change? I am trying to make the 3-6 mont size.

    • Paula says:

Thank you very much! Yes, by using a different ply yarn it does change the size of the bootie. You can use 2 x 4 ply (crochet two strands together) to get the same thickness as the 8 ply which I’ve used for this design.

  25. marlyassem says:

thank you soo much i done the posh crochet baby booties and the puff stitch crochet baby booties i loved them soo much .i like the pattern so clear ,and i learnt new things thank you

    • Paula says:

I’m really glad you love my bootie patterns so much that you’ve made them. Thank you!

  26. efrat says:

    Hi,

Thank you very much. I made 2 booties. It was very easy to understand. great tutorial. Can u please upload a video with converse shoes for babies. I want to make them but the instruction I found on the web were very complicated.
    Thanks a lot

    • Paula says:

Well done for crocheting your booties. Hopefully I will get to film a converse baby bootie in the future for you. Thank you for following my work. :-)

  27. Lkhk says:

Thank you for the time an thought you put into your website! These booties are adorable and simple. Your video tutorial is fantastic! It’s great for any beginner as it is visually broken down and shows all the nuances we beginners don’t understand such as pointing out what the free loop looks like and what the stitch looks like as the second round is made. You are creative and so gifted!

    • Paula says:

Thank you very much. I try to make things as simple as I can so everyone can understand and enjoy crochet. Wishing you all the best with your future comments. :-)

  28. Magda says:

Hi! really you are amazing teacher .your video is so simple and clear . I cannot believe it because its the first time to me to make crochet but after following your video step by step I could make one shoe like yours :D . thank you very much .

  29. marie says:

    You are an amazing teacher!!
It is my first time making a project like this and you made it very easy.
    I just got a problem….
I made the first shoe and it was ok but the second shoe looks left also.
    What did I do wrong?

    • Paula says:

      Thank you very much, Marie!

You haven’t done anything wrong. That is how the pattern is.

  30. tammie says:

im trying to figure out how to make the different sizes can you please explain would be greatly appreciated im an excellent crocheter been doing it 20 years now just don’t know how to do the different sizes

    • Paula says:

Hi Tammie, All you need to do is check on this pattern page the Baby Bootie Sole Measurements and see which crochet hook size you need to use.

  31. Dina says:

    Hi paula
I need to make a bigger size for 2years old baby how can i make it

    • Paula says:

Hi Dina, I haven’t made them in that size so the only thing I can suggest is try using a thicker yarn and larger crochet hook and see how you go. You’ll have to experiment.

  32. Ashley V. says:

I would like to watch the video, but don’t have continual access to the Internet. Is there a way for me to download it?

    • Paula says:

Hello Ashley, no sorry. The only way to view the video tutorial is via Youtube.

  33. Brittany E says:

I absolutely love your tutorials! I have made 2 pair and now everybody wants them! I have a question regarding the categories; is category 3 just a softer yarn compared to category 4 or is there a more in depth reason to use 3 for babies?

    • Paula says:

Hi Brittany, thank you for loving my tutorials! Category 3 means that the thickness of yarn is thinner than a category 4 yarn.

  34. Rahma says:

    Hi,
I tried to crochet these booties and let me say I so much Loved how they turned out to be. I also am thinking of making you baby booties key ring for someone and can’t wait to start making it. funnnnn!!! I love crocheting and it is AWESOME how you thought your self to crochet. SO COOL!
