How to Make a Chain Stitch

In the video tutorial below you will learn How to Make a Chain Stitch.

The chain stitch abbreviation in crochet patterns is ‘ch’.

Once you have your slip knot on your crochet hook, follow these instructions:

  • Hold the yarn over your left forefinger and holding the bottom of the slip knot with left thumb and middle finger
  • Wrap the yarn over the crochet hook (hook goes under the yarn), turning the hook anti-clockwise and with the tip of the hook facing downwards, pull the crochet hook with the yarn through the slip knot
  • This makes a chain stitch
