When crocheting a circle you will start off with a chain ring and work in rounds; meaning around in a circle.
The chain ring can be any size but the smaller the chain ring the tighter the hole in the middle will be which is usually what you want.
Below is the video tutorial and written instructions/pattern for how to crochet a circle. To make sure that your crocheted circle comes out flat we will add stitches to the second and following rounds.
ch 4, sl st in 1st ch made to form a ring. Work the first round over the tail end of yarn so you don’t have to weave it in later with a yarn needle.
Round 1: ch 3, 10 dc into the center of the ring, join with sl st in ch-3 of beg, pull lightly on the tail to tighten the center of the circle.
Round 2: ch 3, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st*, rep from * until the end; ending with 2 dc in last st, sl st in ch-3 of beg.
Round 3: ch 3, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*, rep from * until the end; ending with 2 dc in last st, sl st in ch-3 of beg.
To make your crochet circle larger then repeat round 2 and 3 as many times as you need to until you have the size circle you want.
Fasten off and weave in your end yarn tail with a yarn needle.
All the best,
