Rnd 1: (working over yarn tail); 6 sc into ring. (6 sts)

Rnd 2: 2 sc into each st around to end. (12 sts)

Rnd 3: * 1 sc into next st, 2 sc into next st, rep from * around to end. (18 sts)

Rnd 6: * 1 sc into each of next 4 sts, 2 sc into next st, rep from * around to end. (36 sts)

Tighten center yarn tail and weave in with a yarn needle.

Making the Divide from Bottom to Sides

Rnd 7: sl st into 1st st,(working in BLs only for this rnd); 1 sc into each st around to end; making last sc into BL of sl st.

Tip: If you are going sew buttons onto your project then as you crochet the following rnds, sew buttons on after every couple of rounds.

Rnds 8 – 40: 1 sc into each st around to end.

Making the Spaces for Ribbon to Weave through

Rnd 41: 1 sc into each of next 2 sts, * ch 2, sk next 2 sts, 1 sc into each of next 2 sts, rep from * around, ending with ch 2 and sc into 1st st where marker is. (9 sps)

Rnd 42: 1 sc into each st and 2 sc into each ch-2 sp around to end.

Making the top of Bottle Cover

Rnds 43 – 49: 1 sc into each st around to end.

Making the Top Edge

Rnd 50: 1 sl st into each st around to end; making your last sl st into the st just before the stitch marker.

Finish off.

With a yarn needle weave yarn tail down through the middle of 1st sl st and then down into the back of the stitches inside the bottle cover.

Weave ribbon through ch-2 sps.

Place the wine bottle into the wine bottle cover.

Tie a bow with the ribbon.

  1. Great Idea! I used to crochet, enjoyed it, I should pick it back up again. In the mean time I have passed this site to Judy who crochets a lot and maybe she can make some of these wine holders. What a great gift idea! I love wine too! Donna
