Okay, so if you are anything like my family then you will most commonly give a wine bottle as a gift at some time during the year.
So, I’ve created a Crochet Wine Bottle Cover Pattern.
Tip: Make your crochet wine bottle cover first and then buy a bottle of wine to fit into it.
For Visual Learners crochet along with me in the Crochet Wine Bottle Cover Video Tutorial.
1 bottle of wine
1 ball of Red Heart With Love Yarn, Color: Hot Pink (category 4 medium worsted weight)
5.0mm crochet hook
39.5 inches/100 cm of ribbon
If you are going to add buttons you need the following:
Assorted buttons in different shades of one color
Circumference & Height = 11 inches/28 cm
Stitches & Terms
This pattern is using U.S. stitches. To convert stitches go to my Crochet Stitch Conversion Chart.
ch = chain
ch-2 = 2 chain stitches previously made
BLs = back loops
rep = repeat
rnd/s = round/s
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
sl st = slip stitch
sp/s = space/s
st/s = stitch/es
Starting at the Bottom of the Crochet Wine Bottle Cover
ch 3, join into 1st ch with a sl st to form a ring.
Note: This pattern is worked in continuous rounds which means there is no joining at the end of rounds. Use your stitch marker to place into 1st stitch of each round.
Rnd 1: (working over yarn tail); 6 sc into ring. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: 2 sc into each st around to end. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: * 1 sc into next st, 2 sc into next st, rep from * around to end. (18 sts)

Rnd 5: * 1 sc into each of next 3 sts, 2 sc into next st, rep from * around to end. (30 sts)
Rnd 6: * 1 sc into each of next 4 sts, 2 sc into next st, rep from * around to end. (36 sts)

Making the Divide from Bottom to Sides
Rnd 7: sl st into 1st st,(working in BLs only for this rnd); 1 sc into each st around to end; making last sc into BL of sl st.
Tip: If you are going sew buttons onto your project then as you crochet the following rnds, sew buttons on after every couple of rounds.
Rnds 8 – 40: 1 sc into each st around to end.
Making the Spaces for Ribbon to Weave through
Rnd 41: 1 sc into each of next 2 sts, * ch 2, sk next 2 sts, 1 sc into each of next 2 sts, rep from * around, ending with ch 2 and sc into 1st st where marker is. (9 sps)
Rnd 42: 1 sc into each st and 2 sc into each ch-2 sp around to end.
Making the top of Bottle Cover
Rnds 43 – 49: 1 sc into each st around to end.
Making the Top Edge
Rnd 50: 1 sl st into each st around to end; making your last sl st into the st just before the stitch marker.
With a yarn needle weave yarn tail down through the middle of 1st sl st and then down into the back of the stitches inside the bottle cover.
Weave ribbon through ch-2 sps.
