“Crochet Hooks You!”
Hello, I’m Paula Daniele – Crochet Designer, Video Producer, and Webmaster for Crochet Hooks You. I also operate an Etsy Shop called ‘DannyEllie Designs’ selling Women’s Beanies.
I’m based in Canberra, Australia.
I created Crochet Hooks You in 2010 for the purpose of not only doing what I love and to learn more myself but I wanted to share it with those who wanted to learn crochet also.
My patterns and video tutorials are designed mainly for the beginner and easy skill levels.
My usual day would consist of designing crochet patterns and filming myself crocheting them so others can learn via the Crochet Hooks You Youtube Channel.
I make all editorial, design and technical adjustments to this website so you have an easier visitor experience. And I try to answer the many crochet questions I receive from visitors and viewers on this website, youtube channel and the facebook page.
I taught myself how to crochet when I was a young girl and quickly picked up how to crochet the granny square and got hooked. At that time I had no idea that stitches had names nor did I care. I just wanted to crochet! And so I did.
From what I can remember, I think it was my sister who I used to watch making granny squares and from speaking with my Nan, crochet started in our family by her mother (my Great Grandmother, Vera) who would crochet doilies, edgings, etc. I somehow ended up with Vera’s crochet kit and it all started from there.
I did eventually learn what the crochet stitches were called so I could read and design patterns. I have learned from both U.S. and U.K. pattern books now but I prefer writing and reading crochet patterns in U.S. terminology. There is a wider use of the U.S. stitches and terms which means there are more patterns and videos available to you.
I particularly love the giving side of crochet. It’s nice to hand something special to someone just because I want to.
I am interested in crocheting anything; whatever takes my interest at the time then that is what I am crocheting but if I had only one choice of crocheting anything then my most favorite of all projects is baby booties because they are just so cute!
